How to Clear your Cache
If you've ever tried to make edits to a page or make adjustments in the customizer and you're not seeing those changes reflected on your live site, chances are it's a cache issue.
Cache is basically saved data that helps your website load faster. Instead of reloading everything from scratch each time you visit, your browser or site will temporarily "store" info so pages load quicker.
Cache is a good thing and it helps your site load faster, but when you're making website updates, it can be frustrating if you don't see changes right away.
Caching can happen in a few different places. I'll walk you through the most common areas to check and clear:
1. Browser Cache
Start with your browser. Clear your cache and cookies, then refresh your site to see if your changes appear.
Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data
Firefox: Go to History > Clear Recent History > Clear "Temporary cached files and pages"
Safari: Go to History > Clear History
Safari (iPhone): Go to Settings > Safari > Clear history and website data
Tip: Add a quick "clear cache" button to your toolbar with this Chrome extension!
2. Plugin Cache
If you're using a caching or optimization plugin, it may be holding on to old files.
Go to Plugins in your WordPress dashboard and look for any plugin with "cache" or "optimization" in the name or description.
Find this plugin's settings and click "Clear Cache" (or "Purge Cache"). Usually you can find this button in your WordPress admin bar at the top of the screen.
3. Server Cache
Some hosting providers add their own caching for performance. If the first two steps don't work, reach out to your host and ask if server-side caching is enabled. If it is, you can request that they clear it for you or turn it off if it's causing issues.
